I'm frequently asked which modeling program I use for my 3D voxel renders. I exclusively use and endorse Bryce; it's the most user-friendly modeling program available, especially for what I use it for. Bryce is definitely the best modeling & rendering program for beginner-level 3D artists; the easiest program to use, by far. Bryce can also render in the highest quality that I've personally seen any program use (256 ray-per-pixel anti-aliasing bitmaps).
That being said, you can currently get your own copy of Bryce 7...FOR FREE...from their official web site:

...and this second link will take you to a page with two other free downloadable programs from Bryce's owners:

Let me know if you have any questions, or run into any difficulty, while using Bryce, especially in regards to voxel modeling. I never read a single tutorial or manual (or used any 3D software before), and I was able to immediately "hit the ground running" with Bryce. I imagine most everyone would have similar results. Just remember to hover the mouse arrow over the top left-hand corner of the screen to bring up the menu lists; that's the only thing I didn't totally "get" immediately. I hope this helps some people out there who want to get into 3D modeling (and maybe even into what I do).
